Growing 'Replete' daffodils is ideal even for complete beginners, as it does not require any complicated procedures. For successful growth, choose a sunny or semi-shaded location with permeable, humus-rich, and loamy soil. If you have overly heavy clay soil in your garden, we recommend improving it with sand and well-matured compost before planting to prevent rot. These daffodils are great for mixed beds, but they also stand out beautifully under deciduous trees and shrubs, where they have plenty of light early in the spring. Furthermore, they are a valuable food source for bees and bumblebees.
Plant the bulbs in the ground during the autumn months, ideally from September to November, before the soil freezes. If you do not plan to plant the bulbs immediately upon arrival, store them in a dry, dark, and cool place. Planting is simple: place the bulb into a hole 10 to 15 centimeters deep, with the tip always pointing straight up. To achieve a lush effect, we recommend planting the bulbs in groups with 10 to 15 centimeters of spacing. You will use roughly 40 to 60 bulbs per square meter.
During spring growth and flowering in April and May, daffodils require moderate watering. The soil should be slightly moist, but never permanently waterlogged. During the season, you can support the plants with a fertilizer for bulbous plants. After these 40 to 45 centimeter tall beauties finish flowering, remove only the withered flowers so the plant does not exhaust itself by producing seeds. Never remove the green leaves, however—let them naturally yellow and dry out. The bulbs will draw the necessary nutrients for the next year from them. The 'Replete' daffodil is a reliable perennial that is highly frost-hardy down to -34 °C and does not suffer from any common diseases, so the bulbs can safely remain in the ground over winter.
The information given is based on our experience, please use it as a guide only. Times may vary depending on the season, climate, location, sowing and transplanting dates and possibly also the conditions in the greenhouse/greenhouse. We always recommend testing how the plant performs in your conditions. Please do not take this as a guarantee.
