Plant 'White Lion' daffodil bulbs in the autumn, ideally from September to November, before the soil freezes. If you do not plan to plant the bulbs immediately upon arrival, store them in a dry and cool place so they do not start to sprout prematurely or grow mold. For planting, choose a sunny or semi-shaded location with well-drained soil where excess water will not pool. Place the bulbs in the ground at a depth of 10 to 15 centimeters with the tip facing up. Maintain a spacing of 10 to 15 centimeters between them so they have enough room to grow, which corresponds to roughly fifty plants per square meter. You do not need to worry about wintering at all, because this variety is extremely frost-hardy down to -34 °C and easily survives winter without any protection.
During spring growth and flowering in April and May, daffodils appreciate moderate watering, but be careful of overwatering, which generally does not suit bulbous plants. The 'White Lion' variety is very hardy, requires no special care, and is completely free of diseases, making it an ideal choice even for complete beginners. If you want to cut the flowers for a vase, harvest them when the buds are still half-closed. After flowering in the garden, it is absolutely essential to let the green leaves naturally yellow and dry out. The plant draws nutrients back into the bulb for the next season from them. You can cut off the flower stems after blooming so the daffodil does not exhaust itself by producing seeds.
