The path to beautifully blooming White Marvel daffodils begins in the autumn, which is the right time to plant large and healthy bulbs. Store the bulbs in a dry and dark place until planting, and plant them from September to the end of November in well-drained, loamy, and humus-rich soil. Always remember the rule that bulbs are planted tip-up, at a depth of 10 to 15 centimeters. Daffodils prefer a sunny spot or light partial shade. If you are planning a mass planting, count on spacing them 10 to 15 centimeters apart. This will ensure a dense and evenly blooming bed that will also reliably attract bees and other useful pollinators in the spring.
In the spring months, when the daffodils reach a height of 35 to 45 centimeters and buds begin to form, ensure they have adequate moisture. The soil should be slightly moist, but never permanently waterlogged. Pure white, double flowers appear during April and May. Gardeners very often use this variety for cutting, as sturdy and slender stems carrying one to two flowers look very noble in interiors. Conversely, the flowers are not suitable for drying, so enjoy them mainly fresh. If you are growing the plants purely for the beauty of the garden, regularly remove faded heads so the plant does not exhaust itself by producing seeds.
To ensure this popular bulbous plant lasts for many years in your garden, it is necessary to provide proper care for its leaves even after flowering. Under no circumstances should you cut the green leaves until they have completely dried out on their own. The bulbs need time to draw the necessary energy from the leaves for safe overwintering. You do not need to deal with winter protection for this species at all. It is an extremely frost-resistant plant that can handle harsh frosts falling to -34 °C. Pay increased attention only to the prevention of grey mold. You can prevent this by avoiding planting in heavy and permanently waterlogged soils, where the bulbs could start to rot.
